Duty Bound is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), established to manufacture and supply food and commercial items for our customers worldwide.
We are acutely sensitive to the demands of long supply chains, and use enhanced palletizing techniques to increase the integrity of our deliverables.
Phil Gioia, our founder, owner, and CEO, was an 'Army Brat' who grew up on US military posts in the United States, Japan, and Italy. After graduation from the Virginia Military Institute, he was commissioned as a Regular Officer in the United States Army, and served in leadership and command positions in Airborne Infantry, Airmobile Infantry, and special operations units in the United States, and two combat tours in Vietnam.
Twice wounded in action in the Vietnam War, Phil was awarded two Purple Hearts and two Silver Stars, as well as several other combat decorations.
Phil donated the jungle boots he wore on both combat tours to the National Museum of the United States Army. Seen HERE, they are now part of the US Army's 'Permanent Collection on the Vietnam War'.
While in Vietnam, Phil took careful note of the types of rations provided to combat troops, from the firebases out to the infantrymen in the field. That experience inspired him to found Duty Bound LLC in 2008, and to write "Gourmet Grunts 1968-70" published in Armchair General Magazine, and reprinted HERE, with permission of the editors.
Following his military service, Phil received an MBA from Stanford University. He also holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
In thirty years of experience in business management, he has served as investor, CEO, or board member of emerging-growth corporations in the technology sector, and is a co-founder of Pathfinder Partners LLC, providing services to the US defense and national security communities.
Duty Bound drew on these experiences to create an innovative, cost effective manufacturing model. This approach permits Duty Bound to provide best-in-class products at a competitive price.
Phil is also active with organizations providing support to our wounded, returning from combat service overseas.
